Awesome Blog Content Award and Zero to Hero Days 5 and 6

abc-badge

So a few things. First of all, I have actually been keeping up with the last 2 days of Zero to Hero prompts. Yesterday we were supposed to try out several new layouts, which made for an interesting challenge, since just the night before I’d spent an hour or more combing through layouts. I’d already begun deciding that what I had wasn’t working anymore, didn’t really fit the blog’s content and feel. What I have now works, but I think it still needs tweaking. How do you feel about the new layout?

And also, I got an the Awesome Blog Content Award nom from Sourcerer. Hooray! And for day 6 of Zero to Hero we’re supposed to put in some new blogging elements that we haven’t used before, so I’ll be doing some of that by using some gifs and Pins below the cut-along with giving my nominations for the Awesome Blog Content Award:

Here’s the skinny:

  1. Download the award logo and add it to your acceptance post.
  2. Nominate a few fellow bloggers.
  3. Take each letter of the alphabet and use it to tell something about yourself.

My nominations are:

Superdanni

The Budding Scientist

Lazy Lady

Jennifer Windram

Kimchi Latkes

And here’s my list:

Apples to Apples is my absolute favorite game, and I enjoy games quite a lot. Poker is my second favorite, though Scrabble comes in a close third.

Books are my kryptonite. I just keeping buying them and buying them, reading them and adding more to my TBR list.

cast is something that I’ve never had to wear as I’ve never broken a bone.

Diana is my name, and I’m named after my mother, Dianne. People have mixed up our names my entire life, but I’m glad my name wasn’t Tanya, which was apparently what it was supposed to be.

I have terrible eyesight.

I have a fake eardrum. When I was young, the tubes in my ears left a large hole in my left ear, and my eardrum had to be remade with skin from behind my ear.

Going places is one of my favorite things; I have a whole list of places I want to travel around to see.

Howl from the Miyaziki film Howl’s Moving Castle is one of my biggest fictional crushes.

I love to eat birthday cake and ice cream, because it means I can eat the ice cream with a fork.

Judah” was almost the Little Jedi’s name. I quite like that name.

I’ve never been in a kayak before, but I’d very much like to go kayaking. I’ve been white water rafting and canoeing, and I love to go camping…So kayaking is on the list.

Little Women is one of the few books that I’ve read over and over again. Re-reading books just isn’t something I do often, because there are so many new ones to read.

I’m marrying my wonderful fiancee in March. We’re running off to Las Vegas. Though I swore, especially after a very complex situation and rushed marriage the first time, that I was going to have a big pretty wedding like I’d always wanted. Only now I want something different.

Nine is the number of years I took piano lessons. I was a decent player, but not really a true talent. I do sometimes miss my piano though. It was good for stress relief.

October is my favorite month. Why? Here:

Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens is one of my favorite children’s stories. It’s the predecessor to Peter Pan and Peter and Wendy. I did my master’s thesis on these texts, and I’ve never stopped loving them.

The quokka is one of my favorite animals.

Red is my favorite color, though there are many other colors that I like almost as well.

I have a son. He was 8 weeks premature and spent 5 weeks in the NICU.

I am in the last month of my twenties.

If you didn’t know me before I was 16, then you’ve never seen me with un-dyed hair.

I collect vintage Fiesta Ware.

Our wall is full of art-a gallery wall-that is special to us because we either bought it traveling or it was painted/created by family members. We have artwork by my mother and oldest brother and my fiancee’s mother and sister up on our wall. This makes the living room my favorite room, because I like to just stare at the wall.

I had three sets of X-rays this year, despite not having broken any bones; they were the first X-rays that I remember having since childhood, and it was to see if my ankle was broken or just badly sprained.

Youth is one of things I’m most afraid of losing. And really, it’s not the getting older so much as the getting one day closer to not being around anymore.

Zombies and many other mythical critters fascinate me. I love to study pop culture representations of them.

  1. I just read Little Women for the first time last year, I think in preparation to read another book. I was amazed at how I was able to relate to all four girls in a different way. Congrats on your upcoming nuptials.

    1. Thank you!

Little Women is something that I read for the first time as a child, and I’ve loved it since. It has its problems, yes, but it’s mostly a beautifully written book, and Jo is so painfully real.

  4. What a nice post, and I love those nominations.

You should take a look at the conversation I just had with the Leather Library on today’s Tolkien thread. I’ll be interested in discussing it next time we chat. Take a look at their YouTube channel sometime, too. They do video unboxings of leatherbound volumes.
