If we were having coffee, we’d have had a quick coffee on the road, perhaps, or maybe before I left home. Or maybe we’d be at the photobooth where I’m working today.
It’s the annual St. Patrick’s Day festival in Long Beach this weekend, and the photography business is setting up a photobooth today for festival goers. I’m absolutely sure that it will be a lot of fun. I’m also absolutely sure that I’ll drink a vat of coffee today, especially if we’re there for the full 6 hours of the festival and parade!
But the weather is supposed to be lovely today, sunny and in the low 60’s. It could only be nicer with the addition of Sam, Little Jedi, and Tank, who would love the weather, but they’re not good company for a workday, really, and although this is a festival, and it’s fun, it’s also work.
I’d likely rattle on a bit about the business, about things that I am learning how to do and all of the things that I still need to do. I have a long list of Things to Accomplish, and I’ve managed to cross quite a few of them off of the list in the past few days. Business occupies a lot of my thoughts right now, both what I’m doing and what Sam’s doing–the day job accounting, of course, but also the 2 films he’s directing and a potential new TV series that he’s writing.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’ve been really busy on the blog and social media front as well. Yesterday the Monster hosted Feminist Friday, and the discussion has been fantastic so far. Next week, well be at Drifting Through My Open Mind, where the indubitable Gretchen will be writing the final prompt of the spring discussions.
I’d tell you happy International Women’s Day, and I’d point you in the direction of our newly published e-book featuring the essays from our first round of Feminist Friday Discussions and edited by Natacha Guyot!
And in other blogging news, I’m still working on the A to Z Challenge. I’ve got most of my topic list drawn out, and I intend to start writing posts next week. I’ve had a chance to participate in one or two of the A to Z Twitter chats (which will be held from now until the end of April each Thursday at 1 and again at 8 ET).
I’ve also met some great folks since starting, the co-host I’m working with this year, Heather M. Gardner (whose blog you should totally check out). She wrote a fantastic introduction for the team that published on her blog and the A to Z Challenge page, and I’m thrilled by all the goings on, naturally.
(Aside: I can’t wait to reveal the Monster’s theme in just a few weeks! EEP!)
I won’t just be writing here for the A to Z Challenge, though. I’ll have a few posts up at Sourcerer, where we are doing a collaborative entry for the challenge. I’ve got H, P, and Z, and I’m excited to write those posts and see the full A to Z Sourcerer run.
I’m also guest-posting at a few places in the coming months, though I won’t yet say what or where. Things are in the works, though. Stay tuned 🙂
