Top Ten Comics That Celebrate Diversity

Each week, The Broke and the Bookish holds Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly book blogging meme. This week, we’re talking about books that celebrate diversity. I’ve been on a comics kick recently, catching up with some that I’ve missed during my days of university research and teaching. Comics, while not known for their diverse casts, are becoming more and more so—though they still have a long way to go. I decided to halve my list this week, with 5 comics I have read that celebrate diversity and 5 that I want to read that do so:

    1. I had a hard time with this list, and even still I wish it had some more diversity in it, but I’m relatively new to reading a lot of comics (am catching up on a lot I didn’t have time to) and there’s a shortage of diverse comics out there.

  1. I’ve never been one for comics but I’ve heard a lot about LumberJanes and I’m intrigued. I might have to give that a try.

    1. Rat Queens is one of my favorites, and so is Saga. I’ve just recently read both of them, and they quickly became favorite. I can’t wait to read more as they’re released!
