#WeekendCoffeeShare: It’s Almost October!

weekendcoffeeshare

If we were having coffee, we’d be curled up on the couch, and I’d be chattering away about Halloween and October plans. I’m getting ready to put my plans into action, since this coming week is the beginning of October, which for me officially marks the start of the Halloween season. I’m getting ready for a month of scary movies, spooky stories, and a blog line-up full of October fun.

I’m also sponsoring a special month of Go Play! program challenges for Nerd in the Brain’s blog. The person who completes the most October challenges between October 1 and November 1 will get a Horror Block and a super special surprise from me. You can find the challenges here, and you can sign up for the event and see the rules at Nerd in the Brain.

I’d tell you that the week didn’t go as expected, but it was an ok week all the same. I managed to miss having coffee with everyone last week, as Sam and I took Saturday to wander about the Westbank and found a wonderful new-to-us pub, then had dinner and dessert with my parents, and Sunday was full of photography business and family time.

I wasn’t feeling well at the beginning of the week, and I used the time to rest and read the first few books of the Pretty Little Liars series and Stiff: The Curious Life of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. Neither of the jobs panned out—one interviewer never contacted me to confirm the interview time, and the other company just wouldn’t have been a good fit. Unfortunate in both cases, but not devastating. Little Jedi’s school was out on Wednesday, so we spent the day playing video games and watching the Avatar: The Last Airbender series. It’s been a slow week, an up-and-down week, but not a bad one.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that this week there’s a lot going on with the blog. Urszula will be posting on Monster Monday this week, and I’ll be posting the regular Top Ten Tuesday and Wordless Wednesday features. On Thursday, I’ll be kicking off the month of Halloween blogging and celebrating Banned Books week. And Friday, there’ll be a return of the Feminist Friday discussions. (Fridays will be the only days there aren’t Halloween/October content on the blog, as they will be reserved for reblogging feminist Friday discussion posts.)

For now, I’m off to have coffee with some of you, and then on to writing for the week ahead. ❤

  1. Our week sounds similar. I’m really looking forward to October. Halloween isn’t really celebrated here in Poland, but I try to throw a Halloween party every year. I’m trying to think of a theme for this year’s. Hope you have a good week.

    1. We’re trying to decide where to go on Halloween, as Little Jedi will be with his dad and Halloween night is on a Saturday–there’ll be lots going on here in NOLA.

  2. It sounds like you had a lovely time last weekend missing coffee with us all. 🙂
Hope you have more job opportunities pop up in the future. Good luck with that and hope you have a good week this week.

  3. Seems like a lot of folks are under the weather. Hope you get to feeling better! I love Nerd in the Brain’s Go Play series. I challenged my college students in a class I teach to take part in some of the challenges on their own 🙂

  4. I’m glad the week turned out okay in the end. It’s tough to get caught up with things when you have family duties and then again when you’re not feeling well. I’m glad you managed to make it an okay week.
