#WeekendCoffeeShare: In Which I Have a Happy New Year

weekendcoffeeshare

If we were having coffee, you’d likely find me still in my pajamas, curled up on the sofa with a large cup of coffee and stifling a yawn. The last few days have been a lot of fun, but they’ve also been incredibly busy, and things are just getting busier as I enter 2016. This month will bring my mother-in-law’s wedding as well as the nonprofit’s annual sale, an event that provides all of our funding for the coming year. It’s also the start of Mardi Gras events and parades, as the holiday falls early this year, so we’ll be trying to attend some of those, too.

This past week, though, was all about getting ready to ring in the new year. Sam and I rarely venture out on the holiday–we tend to favor spending the night relaxing at home together–but this year we wanted to do something different…And that’s how we ended up at a table for 4 with my best friend and her wife at a Gatsby/20’s themed New Year’s burlesque party. The evening turned out to be a blast, and of course we made a late night of it. New Year’s day was spent sleeping and reading and getting ready for the night, when we had friends over for drinks and a movie. Several of our friends came over, and some of them even brought their pups, so we had a full house–and another late night.

Today, Little Jedi comes home from a week at his dad’s, and we’ll be getting ready for the return to school this week. Meanwhile, I’ll be spending the week working on grant proposals and catching up on the blogging things I haven’t been quite as good about recently.

But for now, I’m off to read coffee posts.❤ Happy 2016, all.

  1. Man, a Gatsby themed burlesque show sounds so awesome, I am jealous. We like to spend New years at home but I would have made an exception for that too lol. Sounds like your in for a busy month, I hope it all goes well for you.

    Happy 2016:)

    1. Ah yes, our longer breaks are in the summertime here, June-August or September. The Christmas break is about two to four weeks depending on the level of schooling and the location. My son’s school got 2 weeks, so they were out for the week of Christmas and the week of New Year’s. They’ll get a week and a half for the upcoming Mardi Gras holiday at the end of Jan/beginning of Feb.

    1. It was definitely fun, but it took us until well into the weekend to recover from that and then the company Friday evening. Worth it every once in a while, but on a daily basis, I definitely prefer my pj’s and couch.

  2. Happy 2016! May it bring you peace, love, and prosperity!

And thank you for hosting the coffee shares. I think this link up is the one best thing that happened to me in the blogging world in 2015. I don’t even remember who posted a coffee share that I read and followed to you and Gene’O, but I am so glad that I did!

I enjoy hosting the coffee shares quite a lot, as they allow me to blog about personal stuff and to get to know other bloggers on a personal level, too. Glad you’ve joined us!
