If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I turned 32 yesterday. It turned out to be a nice, relaxing day, which was nice, since this has been a very busy week. I’ve been working on nonprofit donations pick-ups, and I’ve also been working through some projects of my own (but more on that in a bit!) Little Jedi also had a dental appointment this week, and while it went well, there are a few things we need to follow up on, as he has a very small mouth and large teeth, so he’ll need to see an orthodontist for early intervention.
But yesterday, Sam took Little Jedi to school, and aside from saying goodbye to me and happy birthday, they let me sleep through the morning. I’d made sure to complete the things I wanted to accomplish this week before yesterday, and so I got out of bed at 10:30, after which I lazed around in pajamas, read the novels I’m currently working my way through, and caught up on all the lovely birthday wishes that showed up on social media and via phone before going to get Little Jedi. The evening was as calm as the rest of the day–dinner with Sam and Little Jedi, then video games before bedtime.
This morning, we’re visiting a local framing shop where we have some credit so that we can have a few of our favorite unframed pieces of art put into frames. We have lots of art currently on the walls, but we also have lots of art that is currently unframed that we want to put on the walls, so this will help quite a lot.
In the afternoon, though, we’re Going on Adventures. Little Jedi is leaving for a day at the zoo and a sleepover with one of his friends. And as a celebration day after my day of slothdom, Sam and I are making the 45-minute trip to Covington and Abita Springs, where we’re going to visit the Abita Mystery House and Abita Brewery, before spending the evening watching a burlesque show.
This a busy day for someone like me, a quite introverted soul who has purposely created a home with as many creature comforts as possible so that I can avoid going out when I don’t want to. But sometimes those busy days with lots of exploration are good for me. They give me some new creative energy and allow me to see new parts of my own little world, and I enjoy that—especially when I get to experience it with my dearest companion and partner. All the same, I’m sure I’ll spend Sunday recovering from our busy, fun day!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that some of the blogging events and opportunities that I’ve been working on are coming to fruition.
One major thing has been that I wanted for the blog was to add a new blogging event, possibly a link-up, but I wasn’t sure I wanted the responsibility or running another one. The coffee share is a lot of work on the weekends, as I try to read and respond to all the posts when possible and to tweet, retweet, and like posts on Facebook, and I have to always ensure that I have a coffee post of my own each week and respond to the comments on the posts. The result of that has been the wonderful community that has built around the link-up in the past year.
So when Denise announced that she was looking for cohosts for a new link-up she wanted to create for Throwback Thursdays, encouraging bloggers to share posts that are older than 30 days and to read and share others’ older posts, I jumped in. This week Denise at Adventures of a Jayhawk Mommy created and ran the first post for that link-up, and I’ll be co-hosting with her for at least a few weeks. The response this week was fantastic, and I’m looking forward to watching this link-up grow.
I also, as you can see, created a new logo for the Weekend Coffee Share, featuring my faaaaaavorite coffee cup in our collection. And I continued working on the theme for the A to Z Challenge, which is SOCLOSE at this point!
At this point, I suppose I should close up and run on, as I’ve got miles to go before I sleep! ❤
